Change can be a funny thing. Even positive changes mean closing the book on something else, and that brings up some complicated feelings. Last week, we celebrated the opening of our new Behavioral Health Care Center, which in addition to offering many integrated services is the replacement for our Residential Treatment Facility (RTF). Today, with the RTF residents settled in the new building, it was time for the old one to conclude its service.

Today we celebrated the grand opening of the new Behavioral Health Care Center on our Academy Road campus. While we cut the ribbon in front of a building, we came together to celebrate our shared vision as an organization: Integrated services designed to help the children, adults, and families who come to us for help. (You can view photos of the event on our Facebook page or on the Times Union’s website: https://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Photos-Northern-Rivers-opens-new-Behavioral-14471323.php

We were honored to be joined by Dr. Ann Sullivan, Commissioner of the NYS Office of Mental Health, and were humbled by her words. She praised us for developing a model of integrated care that she would like to see replicated throughout the state because she believes this is the best way to treat the complex challenges we see every day.

As we begin the Residential Treatment Center project, campus design requires that the main campus driveway also serve as the entrance for construction deliveries and workers. We, along with our contractor, BBL Construction Services, are aware of the challenges this arrangement poses, and are taking steps to mitigate construction and ease traffic flow.

We will make every effort to minimize the project’s impact on the neighborhood.  We pledge to keep the lines of communications open, and as always, we remain vigilant in the name of keeping our campus and neighborhood safe. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Campus Project Manager, Tabetha Zostant, at 518.429.4459 with any questions or concerns.
