The ground breaking ceremony was held at the Academy Road campus on Tuesday. The ceremony was a success. Approximately 100 individuals, (e.g.: elected officials, donors , partners, neighbors state staff, our students, and Board Members) were in attendance.

BBL Construction Services and Hershberg & Hershberg performed a ground penatrating survey, to help identify any underground obstacles they may encounter when they begin construction. They took a quick break to catch a few minutes of a pickup basketball game outside the Neil Hellman School and spend a little time with some of the kids who will benefit from the new Center.

A certified copy of the of the deed for 60 Academy Road was obtained today. The orginal deed dates back to 1906!

The City of Albany Planning Board granted us district approval. With this approval, we will now apply for our building permit.

Audrey joined Julie to explore wooded areas on campus as we plan for recreation for our youth.  A bike and walking path is in our future!

March 15, 2018 

We returned to the City of Albany Planning Board Meeting to present small changes made to the plan in response to feedback.  We anticipate final approval in April.

Our project team met with Christine Vescio of Regent Design Services to determine flooring and coloring schemes.  Regent Design Services along with WCGS Archietcts have worked hard to create a comfortable, homestyle living environment.

President and Chief Operating Officer Audrey LaFrenier and Director of Buildings and Grounds Dave Keller, joined BBL Construction Services as they mapped out the footprint of the new center. Seeing the footprint helps us with future recreation planning, and utilization of green space on campus.

We were joined by the consulting engineers and land surveyors, our general contractor and project architect at a public information session. We strive to keep our neighbors informed throughout the process as we replace an obsoltete residential facility with a new, integrated services building.

November 14, 2017- CEO Bill Gettman, Chief Facilities Officer Rich Gerardi and Director of Food Services Kristie Bradt helped prepare a community Thanksgiving dinner. We welcomed many of our neighbors for a turkey feast and a special holiday performance by students from our Neil Hellman School.
